After your medical assessment

Once you complete your exam, we’ll provide a Provisional Marine Medical Certificate, valid for up to six months. We’ll also send your results to Transport Canada, which will issue the final certificate upon approval.

What is a Marine Medical Certificate?

Yes, a Candidate Document Number (CDN) is a unique number that identifies you with Transport Canada. We can’t complete your medical exam without a CDN.

After your medical, we’ll issue a provisional certificate valid for up to six months. The final certification timeline depends on Transport Canada’s review, but we ensure all documents are sent promptly.

The validity depends on your role and health.

  • Up to five years for domestic voyages.
  • Up to two years for international voyages
